This post will show you how to free upgrade to Windows 10 after July 29th.

If you don’t want to take any chances, you should create a complete image backup. If you are a user of Assistive Technology who are still using Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, and you still want to upgrade, you still have the opportunity to upgrade at no cost.

Step 1: Go to the Windows 10 free upgrade for customers who use assistive technologies page to download the Windows 10 upgrade tool. Click the Upgrade Now button.

Step 2: Run this tool, and then click Accept button agree to upgrade your PC to Windows 10.

Step 3: Follow the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant wizard, and wait for downloading and installing.

Step 4: Once the install is complete, click the Start button >Settings >Update & Security.

Click on Activation tab. On the right panel, you will see Windows 10 is activated with a digital entitlement.

If you upgrade to Windows 10 and decide that you’d like to downgrade later, you can roll back to Windows 7 or 8.1 at any time within the first 30 days, the way to do that see in Part 2.

Part 2: Go Back to Your Previous Windows Version

You can go back to your previous version of Windows if Windows 10 on this device is activated with a digital entitlement. Most importantly, you just can restore back within a month after upgrading to Windows 10.

Step 1: Click Start > Settings > Upgrade & System > Recovery.

Step 2: Click Get Started under Go back to Windows 8.1.

Step 3: Click Go back to Windows 8.1, and then follow the on-screen prompts to revert back.

Windows 10 will be uninstalled and you’ll be back on Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Step 4: After you downgraded to Windows 8.1, when logged in, there is a message popped up right away.

You're now back to Windows 8.1, and are eligible to upgrade to Windows 10 for free, even after the July 29th cutoff date.

Why couldn't go back to my previous version?

1. Rollback is dependent on the availability of the Windows.old and $WINDOWS.~BT/$Windows.~WS, if they are deleted, then you may not be offered the option to rollback.

2. To be clear, Go back to Windows 7/8.1 option is only available for one month after you upgrade to Windows 10. And Windows won’t give you the option to downgrade after 30 days ended.

But if you backed up Windows.old and other folders, with the help of Windows 10 Rollback utility, you can roll back to the previous Windows.

Why Should you get Windows 10 Now

1. Because Microsoft Support Lifecycle is limited, Mainstream support for Windows 7 officially ended on January 13, 2015, and the extended support period will expire in 2020.

That's to say, when the version of Windows you're using reaches its end of support date, it will no longer receive software updates from Windows Update, like Windows XP.

The first method for getting Windows 10 is to simply upgrade an existing (and activated) version of Windows 7 or 8.1. All you have to do is go to the Download Windows 10 page, click the 'Download tool now' button and run the Media Creation Tool. Although Microsoft threatened to close the free upgrade loophole to stop just anyone using it, the offer remains open and you can still use this method to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.
