Just bought this DVD software and was wondering if this DVD is a bootable DVD that I can boot up with? I am used to earlier Acronis software that was. And if not, am I able to create a bootable True Image media so that I can boot up with it and either create a backup or recover a backup to a computer? Thanks for any help on this.

The ATI 2018 installation DVD can also be used as bootable media but this may be an older build of the application depending on when it was created. If you have registered your serial number to your Acronis Account, then you will also be able to download an ISO image of the most recent version.

There are some limitations with the DVD / ISO version of the rescue media in that this is a Linux kernel based media and lacks device driver support for such as NVMe type drives and for RAID devices. If you need this type of support then you would need to use the Acronis Rescue Media Builder program to create the alternative Windows PE version of the media.

When I went to install this software, it gave me the option of either to install current version on DVD or to download a newer version. I chose to download and let it install it on my computer.

Windows 7 64 bit with Acronis 2018.
I originally backed up my entire PC with several incremental full back-ups

My original windows user account became corrupted, had to create a new windows user account.

My question is if I go into the new windows user account and do a restore from within the new windows user account, will Acronis restore all my account settings and document into the new user account?

Or do I need to define/indicate in acronis which windows user account I want the restore to go into?
Or does/will Acronis automatically know to restore to the user account that I am in?

Sorry you cannot just restore your Windows account settings using Acronis True Image.

What you can do is to use your full PC backup to recover your computer from the most recent Incremental backup files to the state it held at the time that backup was created.
The first step of such a recovery is to wipe the disk drive you are restoring to in preparation for recreating all the partitions and contents of the drive from the backup image.

If you want to continue with your new user account and just recover your documents, then it is possible to do this but unless you have deleted the old account along with all its files, then those documents will still be present on your hard drive, so you could just copy them over directly.

A 'Time Explorer Storage Folder' apparently was Automatically Created on one of my external backup hard drives.The folder properties is dated 2016, it has two sub files dated 2017..?
Why is it there?
What is its purpose?

I noticed this same question was raised several years ago, but no one from Acronis responded..?

Can I use windows explorer to delete or must it be deleted with in Acronis?

David, I'd recommend opening your own new thread for this as it doesn't relate to the OP's original post.

I'm not familiar with time explorer in Acronis either, but seems to be related to nonstop backups in earlier versions of the product going back to 2013 and earlier.

If you're using NSB, it may be related - no idea why it would be showing up in 2018 and/or with a 2016 date. If you're not using NSB, then it's probably safe to delete in Explorer. Don't know how you'd delete it in Acronis 2018 if there is no linkage to it in the GUI.

David, the Time Explorer Storage folder is normally associated with Acronis Mobile Backup and its default drive M: location used.

If you want to delete the folder, then make sure that the Acronis Mobile Backup NonStop Backup services are not running via the Services control panel or Windows Task Manager services tab page. If you have Acronis Active Protection active with ATI 2018, then you should turn this off first too.

Edited above. Rob is correct that this is NSB (not Mobile Backup).
